Colleen Parker

Colleen Swaringen Parker, 85, of Albemarle, passed away Thursday night, August 19, 2021 at her home.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00AM, Saturday, August 21, 2021 at Porter Community Cemetery.  Rev. Caitlin McAlhany will officiate.  

Colleen was born December 31, 1935 in Stanly County to the late Vaughn Adair and Annie Bell Thompson Swaringen.  She worked at Stanly Knitting Mill for many years and later became a sales representative for Home Interiors, a job that she held for 20 years and greatly enjoyed. She was a member of Porter United Methodist Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Edward “Ed” Parker and sister, Vondell Mabry.  

She is survived by her daughters, Joyce Ann Morrison of Oakboro and Hope Sikes of Albemarle; sons, Ricky Morrison of Oakboro and Ray Vaughn Morrison of Alabama; sisters, Noreta Efird, Carolyn Tucker, Rachel Kesler all of Norwood; brothers, Richard Swaringen and Don Swaringen of Norwood; seven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and two step grandchildren.
