Mary Catherine “Cathy” Haithcock (Heyer) 64 of Mt. Gilead gained her wings Sunday, November 10, 2024 at FirstHealth Hospice in Pinehurst.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 Friday Evening, November 15, 2024 at Edwards Funeral Home in Mt. Gilead.
Cathy was born May 28, 1960 in Montgomery County to the late John Lawrence Heyer and Nira Sledge Heyer, who survives, of Mt. Gilead. She was a 1978 graduate of West Montgomery High School. Cathy worked her teen years at Mt. Gilead Park Program & later in life became the director of the Mount Gilead Park Program & pool. Cathy loved spending time at her family’s Tillery lake house water skiing, swimming, & fishing. She was an avid gardener, basket weaver, baker, and crafter. She loved reading, dragons, sci-fi, all holidays & decorating for them. Cathy was a loving wife and mother, but what she loved most of all was spending time with her grandkids where she loved teaching them all of her many skills.
She was a staple in the community. She was a great mother not only to her daughters, but all of the kids in the community serving as a girl scout leader, SOS afterschool teacher, swim coach, and was a member of the Chi Sigma club for many years.
In addition to her mother she is survived by her husband Tony Haithcock of the home.
