Cathey Grissom

Cathey Britt Grissom, 77, of  Norwood, passed away, surrounded by her loving family, on Monday, January 23, 2022 at her home.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00PM on Friday, January 27, 2022 at East Albemarle Church of God. Rev. Gerald Gibson and Rev. Dwight Huffman will officiate and interment will follow at Norwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.

Mrs. Grissom was born on May 9, 1945 in Anson County to the late James Thomas and Ila Lewis Britt.  She was a secretary with Stanly Shale Products for 27 years. 

Cathey was a member of East Albemarle Church of God. All through her life, Cathey was a faithful witness of Christ who enjoyed spreading the gospel through the teaching of Sunday school and the women’s correctional ministry while attending the Norwood Chruch of God, and Freedom Holiness Church. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. 

In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her sisters: Jimmie Barnette, Molly Ennis, and Virginia Porter. 

She is survived by her loving husband, Willie Grissom Jr. of the home; sons: Ricky Hornback and Jerry Chad Grissom; and daughter: Beth Mills (Mark); two granddaughters: Shannah Mills, and Jessica Barra (Joseph); sister: Francis Canter (Jim); and brother: Robert Britt (Linda).
