Catherine Steed

Catherine Little Steed, of Richmond County, NC, was born on November 23, 1929, to the late Nick and Lena Hope Williams. She entered rest on Sunday, December 17, 2023, at the age of 94, surrounded by her loved ones.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm Saturday, December 23, 2023 at Edwards Funeral Home Chapel in Norwood.  Burial will follow in Roper Grove Church Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 12:00 pm until 1:00pm, prior to the service at Edwards Funeral Home.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Zederick Little and John L. Steed; children, Joyce Ann LeGrand, Lacy Robinson, Mammie Bowden, Marsha Bowden; grandson, Christopher Robinson; sister, Pearlie Mae Lilly.  

Catherine attended public schools in Richmond County, NC. She was a homemaker who loved her family, friends, and her church. Her hobbies included crocheting, watching old western movies, and watching Matlock and In the Heat of the Night television shows. She was an EXCELLENT cook and enjoyed preparing home cooked meals for her children, grandchildren, everyone in the neighborhood, and for the sick and the shut-in. 

She was a member of Shiloh Holiness Church in Mt. Gilead, NC. Over the years, she served as an usher, a choir member, Praise and Worship Leader, Sunday School Teacher and “Mother of the Church”. She was very loving to everyone she met and had an enormously giving heart. She never met a stranger and would go out of her way to lend a helping hand to those in need, never seeking anything in return. She was a mighty woman of God and accepted Christ in her life at an early age. She was a prayer warrior and could often be found talking to the Lord on behalf of her loved ones. She will be greatly missed but never forgotten.

She leaves to cherish her precious memories, daughter, Peggy Dawson of Albemarle, NC; two sons, Ernest Zeb Little of Southern Pines, NC, and Deon Little (April) of Niceville, FL. She is also survived by her wonderfully special grandchildren, Eric Bowden, Demeterious Bowden, Boysie Bowden, Lasandra Brooks, Derrick Little, Petula Robinson, Nikeya Little, Frank Bowden, Tara Bowden, Teneka Bowden, Kendall Little, Noelle Little, Jaden Little, LaTisha Little, Felicia Little, Dale Little, Annette Bruton, May Dunn, Barbara LeGrande, and Donya Nelson; many loving and loved great grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends.
