Catherine Edwards

Catherine Blackwelder Edwards, 75, of Albemarle, the best Mama on Earth,  passed away Sunday, February 12, 2023 at Trinity Place in Albemarle.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, February 15, 2023 from 5:00PM to 8:00PM at Edwards Funeral Home in Norwood. 

Mrs. Edwards was born on January 12, 1948 in Stanly County to the late Sam Grier and Emma Upchurch Blackwelder. She worked for many years for the town of Norwood and was a member at Norwood First United Methodist Church. Catherine loved to travel. She especially enjoyed going to the mountains and the beach. 

She is survived by her loving partner of 35 years, Frank Fitzpatrick of the home; daughter Melissa Edwards Brown of Mt. Gilead; two bonus children: Jeff Fitzpatrick of Leeland, NC and Andy Fitzpatrick of Gastonia, NC; brother: Grier Upchurch Blackwelder of Sumter, SC; and nephew: William Grier Blackwelder.
