Carolyn Story

Carolyn Kelly Story, 92, of Mt. Gilead, passed away Thursday, April 4, 2024 at Autumn Care in Biscoe.

A graveside service will be held at 3:00 PM on Sunday, April 7, 2024 at Sharon Cemetery. Rev. Joe Beane will officiate.

Carolyn was born on July 5, 1931 in Montgomery County to the late Daniel Shufford and Pearlie Mae Harris Kelly. She attended Hickory Grove Pentecostal Holiness Church. Carolyn was a people person and never met a stranger. She loved her family and cared deeply for them. She enjoyed fishing with her late husband and planting and gardening her yard. She loved music, especially playing the piano and organ. She played at many local churches throughout her life and even played in several music groups in the community. 

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her siblings: Wilburn Kelly, Clinton Kelly, James Kelly, Ruby Freeman, Irene Loftin, Emma Lea Ledbetter, Cassie Lea McCaskill.

She is survived by two sister-in-laws that were her life long friends, Evelyn Poole of Troy and Delores Kelly of Candor; and many nieces and nephews who were all very important to her.

In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials to be made to Hickory Grove Pentecostal Holiness Church 3885 Pekin Road, Candor NC, 27229.
