Boyce EugeneThompson, 70, of Albemarle, passed away Monday morning, March 29, 2021 at his home.
Funeral services will be held at 4:00PM, Friday, April 2, 2021 at Lakeview Baptist Church in Albemarle. Rev. Tab Whitley and Rev. Bill Lang will officiate. Interment will follow in Silver Springs Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday evening, April 1, 2021 at Edwards Funeral Home in Norwood from 6:00pm-8:00pm. Due to Covid 19 restrictions, social distancing and masks are requested by the family.
Boyce was born July 18, 1950 in Stanly County to the late Roy Bank and Lydia Mauldin Thompson. He was a 1967 graduate of South Stanly High School and received a Bachelor of Science in Accounting in 1971 from Pfeiffer College. He was a retired CFO and former co-owner of Stanly Fixtures. Boyce was an active member of Lakeview Baptist Church where he was Sunday school teacher, Deacon, church treasurer and choir member. He was an original Incorporator and board member of Bank of Stanly and a founding board member of Uwharrie Capital Corporation.
Boyce was an avid sports enthusiast and was actively involved in his children’s softball, baseball and basketball teams. In his spare time he enjoyed playing golf, fishing and playing with his dogs.
He is survived by his wife, Anna Jane Jordan Thompson of the home; daughter, Jesica Tess Thompson (Jill) of Newbury, New Hampshire; son, Anthony Grant Thompson(Leigh Ann) of Wendell, NC; sister, Brenda Ritchie of Albemarle; step-mother, Jean Thompson of Albemarle; step-sister, Claudia Hill Lang (Bill) of Tampa, FL and step-brother, Paul Hill (Ann) of Washington, NC.
