Boone Shankle

Clinton LeRoy "Boone" Shankle Jr., 66, of Norwood, passed away Monday, November 13, 2023 at Atrium Health Stanly.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00PM on Sunday, November 19, 2023 at Cottonville AME Zion Church. Rev. Brian Cunningham will officiate and interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:30 PM to 2:00 PM prior to the service. 

Mr. Shankle was born on February 10, 1957 in Stanly County to the late Clinton Leroy Sr. and Margaret Colson Shankle. He graduated South Stanly High School, class of 1975 and worked as a grounds keeper for Piney Point Golf Course for 25 years. 

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers, Donnie Lilly, Kermit Shankle, and Gary Shankle; Uncle Clifton H. Shankle Sr. (Annie N. Shankle), and Aunts Shirley Bryan, and Mattie Delzora Shankle McInnis.

He is survived by his loving wife, Lajania Watkins Baldwin Shankle; three step-children: Kiyoka Baldwin, Terrance Baldwin (Gracey), and Ayanna Baldwin; three step-grand children: Tianna, Yahel, and Elliyahnna; brother and sisters: Grover Shankle (Edwina), Truttie  Shankle, Libby Shankle ; Aunts and uncle: Jeanette Colson, Glossie Mae Colson, Mary Louise Capel (Joseph), Orrin Colson (Sandra), and David Bryan; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
