Bobby Hurley Obituary

Bobby Leo Hurley, 83, long time resident of Mt. Gilead, NC, passed away July 30, 2022 at
Woodhaven Court in Albemarle, NC.
 
Bobby was born December 15th, 1938, to the late Leo and Minnie Hall Hurley in Troy, NC.
Bobby married Carrol Robinson on September 9, 1961. They were married for 60 years.
 
Bobby worked for Capel Rugs in Troy for 40 years. He spent most of those years as the
Supervisor of the Sewing department. He was actively involved in the Mt. Gilead community
including the Little League Baseball, the Softball league, the Mt. Gilead Museum, as well as
with the First Baptist Church of Mt. Gilead. He had a passion for the outdoors including fishing,
backpacking and camping. He also enjoyed playing softball in several recreational and church
leagues and was an avid woodworker.
Bobby is survived by son Chad and wife Lori, son Derrick and wife Jill, grandchildren Andrew,
Kaitlin, Evan, Taylor, and Emily, great granddaughter Amelia, sister Annie Ruth Jenkins and
husband Alvin Bowles, sister Betty Zachary, sister Carolyn Parsons, and brother Steve Hurley
along with several nephews, nieces, and friends. He was proceeded in death by brother Charles
Hurley.
 
A memorial service will be held at the First Baptist Church in Mt. Gilead on August 20th at 2pm. 
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
