Cular Albanks Mabry ‘Banks’, 87, of Norwood, passed away Saturday, August 26, 2023 at his home.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00PM on Sunday, September 3, 2023 at Silver Springs Baptist Church. Rev. Mark Little will officiate and interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday, September 2, 2023 from 6:00 to 8:00PM at Edwards Funeral Home in Norwood.
Banks was born on October 23, 1935 in Stanly County to the late Cular and Berta Lea Thompson Mabry. He was a retired equipment supervisor for the NCDOT and a member of Silver Springs Baptist Church.
He enjoyed fishing, gardening and in his later years working in his greenhouse. He enjoyed playing gospel and bluegrass music on his doghouse bass.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Mary Foreman Mabry on October 20, 2022. Three brothers, James Craig Mabry, Billy Ray Mabry and Bobby Lee Mabry.
He is survived by his daughter, Evette Mabry Austin (Rodney) of Marshville; one son Wesley Banks Mabry of Norwood; three grandchildren: Seth Austin (Loren), Kenneth Austin (Emily), and Kathryn Austin; one great-granddaughter: Sadie Dawn Austin and a great-grandson expected in December and many nieces and nephews.
