Alva Crump

Alva Dobbs Crump, 84, of Mt Gilead, passed away Monday, September 9, 2024 at Atrium Health Stanly.
The family will receive friends from 5:30 to 7:00 PM on Wednesday, September 11, 2024 at Edwards Funeral Home in Mt. Gilead. A private graveside service will be held on Thursday. 

Ms. Crump was born on December 27, 1939 in Jacksonville, FL to the late Alvin and Delores Greene Dobbs. She retired from nursing and was a member at First United Methodist Church in Mt. Gilead. Alva was a loving mother and grandmother and was a wonderful homemaker. She enjoyed spending time with her family and watching hummingbirds and butterflies. Alva was very active in the Mt Gilead community. She was instrumental in the founding and development of Mt. Gilead Museum. 

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, E.R. Crump Jr.

She is survived by her sons: Monty Crump (Kathy) of Rockingham, and Greg Crump of Mt. Gilead; three grandchildren: Scot Shields of Southern Pines, Austin Crump, and Ethan Crump, both of Mt. Gilead; and one great-grandson, Chord Crump.
