Albert Foster Johnson

Albert Foster Johnson, 75, of Mt. Gilead died Saturday Evening, May 12, 2018, in Mint Hill.

Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 PM Wednesday, May 16, 2018, at First United Methodist Church of Mt. Gilead. Rev. Duane Partin will officiate and interment will follow in Sharon Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11:00 until 12:45 Wednesday in the church fellowship hall.

Albert was born March 30, 1943, in Montgomery County to the late William Lee Johnson Sr. and Dorothy Foster Johnson. He was a graduate of Duke University and a veteran of the United States Air Force. After his military service he returned to Mt. Gilead and managed his family business, Sox, Inc. He retired as President of Mt. Gilead Savings and Loan after many years of service. He was a member of the Mt. Gilead Civitan Club and a retiree of Mt. Gilead Volunteer Fire Department. He also served on the Montgomery County Board of Education for 8 years.

He was an avid golfer and a member of Tillery Tradition Country Club.

He is survived by his wife Cathy Treece Johnson of the home. Two daughters, Jill Graham-Johnson Henley (Matt) of Mint Hill and Emily Ann Johnson of Clinton, NC.  Two granddaughters, Emma Pearl Henley and Molly Elaine Henley, who loved their "Papa Al."  One sister, Sarah Johnson Holder of Mint Hill. Nephew Robert Johnson (Madelaine) and their children, Ben and Fintan, of Long Island, niece, Peri Johnson (Taner) of Istanbul, Turkey, and their daughter, Lal. Mother-in-law, Sandy Treece of Mt. Gilead and Sister-in-law, Susan Treece Smith (Al) of Concord and their children, A.J. and Jacob. Also surviving are numerous cousins. His beloved dog Joe and granddogs, Cookie and Brownie.

He was preceded in death by his brother William Lee Johnson Jr.
