Agnes Crump Shankle, 95, of Ansonville passed away Wednesday afternoon, July 12, 2023.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00AM, Friday, July 14, 2023 at Concord Methodist Church Cemetery. Rev. J. D. Moffett will officiate. The family will receive friends following the service.
Agnes was born March 24, 1928 in Stanly County to the late Cecil Alexander and Mary Ethel Lowder Crump. She was a homemaker and a member of Concord Methodist Church.
Agnes enjoyed crocheting, embroidery, cooking and sewing. She was a long time member of the Ansonville Book Club. She was a friend to all and could always be found lending a helping hand to those in need. Agnes was a frequent traveler to Charleston, SC and Florida. She was the first passenger in her grandson’s airplane when he received his pilot’s license.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George Daniel Shankle; brother, Bill Crump; sisters, Dovie Huntley and Lib Gibson.
She is survived by her children, George Daniel Shankle, Jr. (Ann) of Cross Hill, SC, Edwin Bruce Shankle, II(Carla) of Ansonville, Jennie Shankle Petro(Bob) of Graham and Mary Shankle Miller(Sugarman) of Lilesville; 12 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and 12 great-great-grandchildren.
