Sara Martin

Sara Edwards Martin 91 of Ansonville died peacefully Wednesday Afternoon, January 1, 2020 at her home.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, January 4, 2020 at Red Hill Baptist Church. Rev. Rodney Clements will officiate and burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends following the service in the church fellowship hall.

Mrs. Martin was born August 11, 1928 in Anson County to the late Clayton and Hallie Braswell Edwards. She was a 1945 graduate of Ansonville High School and attended High Point College and a retiree of United Carolina Bank in Ansonville.

A lifelong member of Red Hill Baptist Church she had been active in all areas of church life including Church Treasurer for many years.

She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother by her family and a master gardener, raising beautiful flowers for her family and neighbors to enjoy.

She was preceded in death by her husband Argus Lincoln Martin Sr. a daughter-in-law Marlene Martin, son-in-law Joe Creech, five brothers, Bennett, Roy, Ted, Joe and Charles Edwards and a sister Ashe Flake.

She is survived by her son Argus Martin of Ansonville. Two daughters, Carol McGauran and husband Michael of Mt. Pleasant, SC and Rena Creech of Albemarle. Five grandchildren, Linc Martin (Jeania), Jason Martin (Erin), Kelly Conklin (Joel), Hallie Sikes and Megan McMahon (Danny). Seven great-grandchildren, Walt, Jack, Camryn, Jase, Emery, Everett and Jack.
