Pauline Lessie (Bowman) Haywood

Pauline Lessie Bowman Haywood, 95, of Mt. Gilead, passed away Friday evening, January 12, 2018 at Firsthealth Montgomery Memorial Hospital.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00AM, Monday, January 15, 2018, at First United Methodist Church. Rev. Duane Partin will officiate and interment will follow at Sharon Cemetery.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.

Ms. Haywood was born April 13, 1922, to Benjamin Franklin and Lessie Fowler Bowman.  She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Mt. Gilead.  She was the co-owner of Haywood Supermarket and Farm Supply for 40 years. She was the only charter member of the Chi Sigma Club which she helped start 70 years ago and served as past president.  She was a member of the Minnie Fruitchey Sunday School Class and Circle One. Ms. Haywood loved to cook and send baked goods to friends in the community.

In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her husband of 68 years, Charles Franklin Haywood.

She is survived by her children, Bruce Haywood and wife Jean Ann, and Marsha Haywood Russell, of Mt. Gilead; grandchildren: Mark Haywood and wife Kristin of Fuquay-Varina, Celia Blake and husband Benjamin, Jessica Mansfield of Mt. Gilead, Joanna Mason and husband Stuart of Charlotte, and Katie Kimrey and husband Trey of Albemarle; and eleven great-grandchildren.
