Olga Regina Werner Throneburg, 89, of Norwood a Loving Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, Sister, Aunt and Community Volunteer passed away on Friday, February 16, 2018.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday February 21, 2018 at Annunciation Catholic Church in Albemarle. Father Peter Fitzgibbons will officiate. Burial will follow at 1:30 PM in Norview Gardens in Norwood. A Rosary service will be held at 5:30 PM Tuesday February 20, 2018 at Edwards Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends following the service from 6:00 to 8:00 PM.
When not at the funeral home the family will be gathering at Olga’s home.
Olga was born on January 10, 1929 in Augsfeld, Germany to the late Josef Franz and Rosa Veit Werner. She worked as a dietary supervisor at Stanly Memorial Hospital and dietary manager at Montgomery Memorial Hospital. She completed her career as a special events caterer at Stanly Regional for the events center, retiring at age 75. Olga was a faithful member of Annunciation Catholic Church.
Olga truly had a servant’s heart and was active in many organizations including having served as President of VFW Post 6183 Ladies Auxillary, Quilter’s for Wounded Veterans/Soldiers, served meals on wheels, Christmas Community Dinner from its beginning, Past President of Stanly County Extension and Community Association, served on the boards of Oasis and the Senior Center and Past President of The Daughter’s of Mary.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Oka William ‘Bill’ Throneburg; and her sister Rita Werner Leisentritt.
She is survived by her children Eddie Throneburg (Beth) of Albemarle, Liz Nichols (Mark) of Norwood, Rose Simmons (Al) of Norwood, and Billie ‘BJ’ Barbee (Andy) of Chapin, SC; her brother August Werner of Hassfurt, Germany; 12 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren: Karen ‘Libby’ Brown (Steve) and their children Zac, Maddie and Aidan, Kevin Simmons (Amanda) and their children Adi, Klay, and Kade, Regina Simmons, Lindsey Toole (Chris) and their children Eli, Owen, Avery, and Emerson, Daniel Weaver(Kim) and their son Tripp, David Nichols (Jennifer) and their children Drew and Zack, Jonathan Nichols, Miranda Duell (Jake) and their daughter McKinley, Kristen Throneburg, Samuel Nichols, Whitney Throneburg, and Tessa Throneburg. A special friend and caregiver Elvira Dennis.
