Miriam Florence (Currie) Meekins

Miriam Florence Currie Meekins, 86, of Norwood, passed away Monday evening, January 1, 2018, at her home.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00AM, Friday, January 5, 2018, at Edwards Funeral Home Chapel.  Rev. Duane Partin will officiate. A private family burial will follow. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Edwards Funeral Home.

Ms. Meekins was born on March 12, 1931, to the late Kenneth Currie and Eva Sullivan Currie in Richmond County.  She retired from Springs Mills as a human relations person after 35 years of service.  Miriam was dedicated to her family and cherished her grandchildren's visits to her home. Miriam loved the lake life, being outdoors, working in her garden, visiting her neighbors and watching the hummingbirds arrive each summer. Later in life her love of oil painting,especially painting flowers, began to bloom.

In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her husband, Ernest Marion Meekins and two sisters, Elaine Martin and BJ Currie.

She is survived by her daughter, Gail Roberts and husband Doug of Winston Salem, two grandsons, David Roberts of Winston Salem and Jonathan Roberts of Crested Butte, Co.  She is also survived by nieces Ann Edwards, (Dale) and Kay Boyd , both of Rockingham, NC.
