Minnie Colson Smith

 Minnie Bell Colson Smith 70 journeyed to her heavenly home Friday, December 8, 2017. Her loving family gives thanks to Our Lord and Savior for His grace and mercy.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, December 15, 2017 at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Ansonville. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:30 until 2:00 Friday at the church.

Mrs. Smith entered this life April 28, 1947 in Stanly County. She was a beloved daughter of the late Grover and Minnie Lou Lee Colson. She received her education in Stanly County Schools and was a member of First Baptist Church in Norwood. She was a retiree of Wisscassett Mills.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband Sherman Henry Smith of the home.  Four sons, Charlie Pernell Colson (Patricia), Darin Marcell Colson, Sherman Wiley Smith and Tim Hill all of Albemarle. Two daughters, Juanita Diane Colson and Willie Mae Deloris Johnson (Wilson) both of Norwood. Two brothers, Jimmy Lee Colson (Beverly) of Albemarle and Lee Roy Colson of Concord. Three sisters, Cora Mae Watkins of Greensboro, Octavis Shankle of Albemarle and Gardenia Morant (James) of Thomasville. Two sister-in-laws,  Perry Colson of Norwood and Lucy Smith (Andrew) of Ansonville. One brother-in-law, Richard Watkins of Monroe. Nineteen Grandchildren and Ten Great-Grandchildren. Special extended family Clifford and Doris Afam of Charlotte. Special friends, Alice Parker, Louise Harris and Regina Lewis. Also surviving are a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death a Son-in-law, Odell Colson and three brothers and two sisters, Julius D. Colson, Grover Colson, Lonnie Shankle, Dorothy Watkins and Mae Frances Colson.
