Martha Stancil Gurley

Martha Stancil Gurley 89 of Mt. Gilead died Saturday Morning, September 2, 2017 at her home.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00PM Wednesday, September 6, 2017 at Sunset Memory Gardens in Mint Hill. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 Tuesday Evening at Edwards Funeral Home of Mt. Gilead.

Mrs. Gurley was born June 29, 1928 in Union County to the late Archie James and Lessie Wilson Stancil. She was a retiree of Russell Harvell Hosiery Mill and a member of Bethel Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband George Robert Gurley.

She is survived by two sons, Robert Max Gurley of Albemarle and Ben James Gurley of Mt. Gilead. Two daughters, Christine Stancil and Eloise Hathcock both of Mt. Gilead. One brother, Lonnie Stancil of Mint Hill and three sisters, Mary Belle Grice, Winifred Cuthrell and Frances Quick all of Mt. Gilead. Seven Grandchildren and Eight Great-Grandchildren.
