Mae Francis Colson

Ms. Mae Francis Colson, daughter of the late Grover and Minnie Lee Colson was born on January 1, 1946 in Stanly County. She departed this life on October 24, 2017 at her home in Albemarle.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday October 28, 2017 at 1:00PM at Resurrection Community Church, 1325 East Main Street, Albemarle, NC. The family will receive friends 30 minutes prior to the service.

Ms. Colson attended public school in Stanly County. She retired as a machine operator from Collins and Aikman. She was a member at New Hope Christian Faith in Ansonville, where she served as Deaconess and Mother of the Church.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her three children, Tammy Jackson (Ricky) of Norwood, Eddie Snuggs (Debra) of Statesboro GA, and Kim Ponds (Fernando) of Albemarle; 14 grandchildren, and 22 great grandchildren; a dear friend of the home, John B Jordan; two brothers: Leroy Colson of Concord, and Jimmy Lee Colson (Beverly) of Albemarle; four sisters,  Minnie Bell Smith (Sherman) of Albemarle, Gardenia Morant (James) of Thomasville, Octavis Shankle of New London, and Cora Mae Watkins of Greensboro; and a host of nieces and nephews.

In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by a granddaughter, three brothers, Lonnie Shankle, Grover Lee Colson Jr. and Julius Colson; and one sister, Dorothy Watkins.

The family wishes to thank everyone who called, visited, sent cards, or remembered them in prayer during this difficult time.

The family will be at the home of Ms. Colson’s daughter, Kim Ponds.
