Luther Welton Hopkins

Luther Welton Hopkins, 79, of Albemarle, surrounded by his loving family, passed away Wednesday morning, June 27, 2018 at his home.

 Graveside service will be held at 2:00PM, Saturday, June 30, 2018, at Palestine UMC Cemetery. Rev. Paul Pickler will officiate.

Mr. Hopkins was born July 14, 1938, to the late Luther Wilson Hopkins and Hattie Russell Hopkins. He is a member of Canaan Baptist Church. He served his country in the Navy and worked in the textile industry. He loved to fish and spend time with his grandchildren.

In addition to his parents he is predeceased by a son, Tony Hopkins; brothers, Mitchell Hinson and Charles Hopkins, and sister Robbie Harris

He is survived by his wife, Betty Lee Hopkins of the home; children, Laura Hill of Co., Tammy Simmons and husband Tim, Lynn Stanly and husband David, and Mark Hopkins and wife Wendy, all of Albemarle. In addition, there are eleven grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren.
