Leon Cox

William Leon Cox, 83, of Norwood, passed away on Monday Morning, September 17, 2018 at the VA Hospital in Salisbury.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday September 20, 2018 at 2:00PM at Edwards Funeral Home Chapel in Norwood. Rev. Tony Parsons will officiate and entombment will follow at Stanly Gardens of Memory. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

Leon was born on November 26, 1934 in Haynes, Arkansas to the late Sam Chester and Margaret Juanita Clark Cox. He was a Veteran of the United States Marines and attended Fairview Baptist Church. He was a retired truck driver.

He was preceded in death by his wife Peggie Eudy Cox.

He is survived by his sons Bobby Leon Cox and wife Deborah of Marshville and William Dale Cox of Norwood; Two brothers: Louis Cox of Forrest City, Arkansas and Mike Cox and wife Janice of Spartanburg, Arkansas; Three sisters: Becky Tatum and Brenda Hurd both of Forrest City, Arkansas and Betty Jean Steel of Shelby, MS; Four grandchildren: Steven Bobby Cox of Chesapeake, VA, Christopher James Cox and wife Stacy of Garner, Joseph Daniel Cox and wife Tabatha of Norwood, and Abby Edmondson and husband Richard of Clemmons; four great grandchildren: Marley and Merrick Cox and Kennedy and Kaylee Edmondson.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to be made to Hospice of Stanly and the Uwharries: 960 N First Street Albemarle NC, 28001.
