Jimmy Stephen Steele 75 of Lexington died Saturday Afternoon, November 16, 2019 sitting in his deer stand, on the opening day of deer season, doing what he loved best.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, November 19, 2019 at Whitecrest Baptist Church. Rev. Ken McRae and Rev. James Coggins will officiate and burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 PM prior to the service at the church.
Jimmy was born November 1, 1944 in Rowan County to the late Bob and Mary Beck Steele. He was a retired supervisor with R.J. Reynolds in Winston-Salem and a member of Whitecrest Baptist Church.
Jimmy was an avid outdoorsman and an accomplished hunter and fisherman. He loved and enjoyed spending time with his canine companion “Buddy”.
He is survived by his wife Brenda Dawson Steele of the home. Two daughters Penny Shackleford of Winston-Salem and Tammy Clontz (Lee) of Lexington. Two step-sons,Rev. James Coggins (Tina) of Asheboro and Christopher Graham (Melissa) of Sophia. Two step-daughters, Jessica Harris of Thomasville and Fonda Warren of Lexington. His mother-in-law Mary Poindexter of Randleman. Five grandchildren, Lexie, Karlee, Grayson,Danielle and Brandi. Four great-grandchildren, Hallie, Liam, Caleb and Ella Jane.
He was preceded in death by a brother Bobby Steele.
