James Floyd Almond

James Floyd Almond, 86, of Albemarle, passed away Tuesday morning, October 2, 2018 at The Tucker Hospice House in Kannapolis.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00PM on Saturday October 6, 2018 at Aquadale Baptist Church. Rev. Delane Burris will officiate and burial will follow in the church cemetery.  He will lie in state 30 minutes prior to the service. The family will receive friends on Friday evening, October 5, from 6:00 to 8:00PM at Edwards Funeral Home in Norwood.

Mr. Almond was born on February 26, 1932 in Stanly County to the late Amos Pressley and Willie Mae Burris Almond.  He was in the US Coast Guard and retired from Stanly Fixtures as a draftsman. He was a member at Aquadale Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Joann Burris Almond of the home; two sons: Kem Floyd Almond and wife Tammy of Norwood and Ladd Leslie Almond of Albemarle; his brother, Gerald Almond and wife Ann of Florida and his sister Shirley Smith of Albemarle; Five grandchildren: Brandon Almond and wife Angela, Colby Almond and wife Susan, Carson Almond, Milas Almond, and Mackenzie Almond; and one great-grandson, Silas Almond.
