Esther Carol Wright

Esther Carol Wright, 84, of Norwood passed away Monday April 17, 2017 at Bethany Woods Nursing and Rehabilitation.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday April 19, 2017 at 2:00PM at Edwards Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Todd McSwain will officiate and burial will follow at Norwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

Ms. Wright was born on November 27, 1932 in Stanly County to the late Arthur Martin and Mary Simpson Wright. She was a 1951 graduate of Norwood High School and went on to graduate from Harkey School of Nursing. She worked many years in Cabarrus Memorial Hospital as a registered nurse before retiring from Cabarrus County Health Department. Esther was a member at Norwood First Baptist Church. She loved sports, especially the UNC Tarheels basketball team and Atlanta Braves baseball. She also enjoyed going to the coast fishing.  Her family will always remember her favorite phrase ‘I love my family.’

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by three brothers and sister-in-laws: William ‘Bill’ Wright and wife Jo, Arthur ‘Frank’ Wright and wife Emily, and Thomas ‘Tom’ Wright and wife Lillie Mae.

She is survived by her nieces and nephew: Linda Lisk (Lloyd) of Norwood, Kathy Thompson of Albemarle, Jayne Eidson (Jason) of Lowell, Joan Wright of Lowell, Janice Katz (Howard) of Matthews, and Edward Wright (Pam) of West Jefferson. She is also survived by numerous great and great-great nieces and nephews.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff of Bethany Woods for the loving care each person gave during Ms. Wright's stay, especially the staff of the 800 Hall.
