Elizabeth Annie (Harrell) Hough

Elizabeth Annie Harrell Lewis Hough completed her life’s journey on the morning of December 28, 2019 while a patient at Duke Hospice House Durham NC. She was born on December 3, 1944 in Anson County North Carolina and was the first daughter of the late Luke Harrell and Marie McLendon Harrell. As we reflect on our beloved’s life, we find strength in knowing that she no longer suffers and that she is with our Lord and Savior. Her presence is no longer amongst us but her memory will forever live in our hearts.

Mommy, we thank you for the 75 years that you gave us, Joshua Jr., Curtis Glenn, Maydelia Alberta will always have you in our hearts. Please tell Daddy that you are home and that you are together again. You both gained your wings. For our hearts were not ready for you to go. So sleep Mommy sleep, your children, (June, Glenn, and Bert).

She was educated in Stanly County Public School and graduated from Kingville School in Albemarle NC. She was a seamstress and homemaker for some time. Then, she got hurt and had to retire and become a stay at home mother. Her church affiliation was with Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church, 500 Sherman Street, Badin NC 28009.

As Elizabeth matured in Christ, she enjoyed attending church and spending time with her family and friends. Elizabeth loved to travel with her daughter to New York, Maryland, Ohio, South Carolina, and back to North Carolina. She also loved sewing and cooking. She loved life and always had a smile on her face.

She was formerly married to Joshua Hough Sr. for 47 years and in that time they were parents to Joshua Jr., Curtis Glenn, and Maydelia.

Elizabeth was preceded in death by Joshua Hough Sr., James Harrell, Neil Bell Brigest, Luke Harrell, Daisy Harrell, Jerry Harrell, Auntie Grace McLendon, Uncle Sherman McLendon, and one cousin, Dorothy Jean. Step Mom and Step Dad Glennwood and Curtsteen Lewis.

Our beloved Mom Elizabeth’s memory will forever live in our hearts, daughter Maydelia (Allen) Henville of Durham NC; sons: Joshua Hough Jr. of Charlotte NC, and Curtis Glenn Hough of Shelby NC. Two special granddaughters: Kria Hough and Sade Knox, great-grandsons DeMonte and King Henville. She loved that King always opened doors for her at just 3 years old. She had 18 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild; brothers and sisters: Pamela Ingram (Roland), Eddie Harrell, Ruben Harrell, Robert Harrell, Bill Harrell, and Mary Harrell. Nephew John Hough Jr., and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
