Marvin Douglas Patillo, 77, of Mount Gilead, surrounded by his loving wife, passed away Friday morning, June 1, 2018 at Hospice of the VA in Salisbury, NC.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00PM on Tuesday, June 5, 2018, at the First United Methodist Church in Mount Gilead. Rev. Duane Partin will officiate. Interment will be at 10AM on Tuesday at the National Cemetery in Salisbury, NC with full Military Honors. The family will receive friends at a reception in the church fellowship hall from 12:30PM to 1:45PM on Tuesday.
Mr. Patillo was born December 18, 1940 to the late Marvin Robert Patillo and Gertrude Jones Patillo. Doug served his country in the military for 14 years and then opened a retail tire store in Spring Lake, where he retired in 1999. He served as president of the JC’s in Spring Lake and was a member of the Uwharrie Classic Cruisers. He loved working on antique cars and was an avid race fan. He will be missed by his babies, Prissy, Miko, and Widget.
In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by one son, Marvin Douglas Patillo II and two sisters.
He is survived by his wife of the home, Emily Patillo; daughter, Pam Davani, and son, Dana Patillo, both of Birmingham, Alabama; two grandsons, Nicholas Davani of Birmingham and Chase Davani of Atlanta, Georgia; one great granddaughter, Leona Davani of Birmingham; one brother Michael Patillo and wife Susie (AKA Sally) of Mooresville, NC.
