Darrell Earl Dean

April 1, 1940 ~ November 14, 2017 (age 77) 77 Years Old


Darrell Earl Dean, age 77, of Charlotte, NC died early Tuesday morning November 14, 2017 at Levine & Dickson Hospice House.

 

He was the son of the late Robert Earl Dean and Anna Marion (Critchlow) Dean and has two brothers, Ronald Dale Dean (Wife, Pam) and Gary Leroy Dean

Darrell was surrounded by his family and his loving wife, Diana Jean Dean.

He had three children, Lori Hites (Husband, Bob), Robert Dean (Wife, June) who reside in Pennsylvania.  Ronald (Ron) Dean, lives nearby in Charlotte.

He was blessed with 7 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and 4 nephews.

New Castle, Pennsylvania was his home until 1986 when he moved to Charlotte, North Carolina.   Their warm, welcoming home hosted many family holiday gatherings.  Friends and relatives loved coming to visit and enjoyed fun filled   auto shows and NASCAR race weekends.

Darrell had a passion for anything with a motor and loved drag racing with his sons and spent many afternoons watching is favorite football teams, the Panthers and the Steelers.

He truly cared about getting to know people and would ask for and remember the name of virtually everyone he met.    He was always asking questions and loved learning how things worked and why.  Oftentimes, he would see something and decide that it was just what a friend needed and he would say, “take this home with you.   You might be able to use it.”

Darrell will be always loved, never forgotten and forever missed.

Funeral services will be held at Randall United Methodist Church,  48144 Randall Church Rd, Norwood, NC 28128 on Friday, November 17, 2017 at 1:00 PM.  The service will be conducted by Rev. Caitlin McAlhaney.    The church will be serving a meal after the service in the fellowship hall.
