Brenda (Barringer) Kimrey

Brenda Barringer Kimrey, 64, of Norwood, passed away Thursday morning, August 3, 2017 at CHS-Northeast.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00AM, Tuesday, August 8, 2017 at Edwards Funeral Home Chapel in Norwood.  Rev. Joe Smith and Rev. David Lowe will officiate and interment will follow in Stanly Gardens of Memory.  The family will receive friends from 6:00PM until 8:00PM, Monday evening, August 7, 2017 at Edwards Funeral Home in Norwood.

Brenda was born December 4, 1952 in Rowan County to the late Ray Monroe and Jewell Shank Barringer.  She was a graduate of North Stanly High School and Pfeiffer College.  She was a member of Richfield United Methodist Church.

She taught physical education in Stanly County for over 30 years.  During this time she coached softball, basketball and started the volleyball program at South Stanly Middle School.  In her spare time she bowled and played softball.  In recent years, she was a participant in the NC Senior games of Softball, bowling and pickleball.  Brenda was a fierce competitor!  She was an avid Carolina Tarheel and Dallas Cowboy fan. 

In addition to her sporting activities she enjoyed playing Bunco, riding horses, traveling and spending time at the beach. 

She gave back to her community by volunteering at Stanly Regional Medical Center and the Roy Hinson Cancer Center. 

Her full of life personality will be missed by her family and her many friends. 

She is survived by her loving husband, Bernard Kimrey of the home; brother Terry Barringer and wife, Lisa; sisters, Joy Medlin and husband, Guy, Lori Burris and husband, Dale and Jan Myers and husband, Winn all of Richfield; numerous nieces/nephews and great nieces and nephews; sister in laws, Shirley Wright and husband Bob, Patricia Russell and brother in law, Jerry Kimrey.
