Ashley 'Sparky' Paul Mabry

Ashley ‘Sparky’ Mabry, 42, of Norwood, passed away on Saturday November 4, 2017 at Carolinas Health Care System Northeast.

Funeral services will be held on Monday November 6, 2017 at 2:00PM at Edwards Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Jeremy Blake and Rev. Gerald Mabry will officiate and burial will follow at Simpson Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday November 5 from 6:00 to 8:00 at Edward Funeral Home.

Mr. Mabry was born on October 9, 1975 in Scottland County to Hilda Thompson Mabry and the late Roger Louis Mabry Sr. He graduated from South Stanly High School and was a member at Union Grove Baptist Church.

Ashley, better known as ‘Sparky’, was one of a kind. He was the familiar face in Norwood and always made a point to speak whenever you saw him. Some referred to Sparky as the unofficial mayor of or the mascot of Norwood. He was loved by so many and will dearly be missed.

In addition to his mother, Sparky is survived by his brothers: Roger Mabry Jr (Mendy) and Aaron Mabry (Season), both of Norwood. Nieces and nephews: Raegan, Kadie Rae, Claire, Alyssa, and Chance Mabry, all of Norwood. Aunts and Uncles: Gerald and Pat Thompson, Judy Thompson, Terry and Clara Thompson, Lee Thompson, and Gerald and Doloris Mabry.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Union Grove Baptist Church Youth- P.O. Box 568 Albemarle NC 28002, in memory of Sparky.
