Elizabeth Ann Parnell Elkins, 81, of Mt. Gilead went to be with her Lord and Savior after a brief stay at Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst.
Funeral services will be held at 2 PM, Friday, February 16, 2018, at Wadeville Baptist Church. Rev. L.J. Brown and Rev. Tony Sedberry will officiate and interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Thursday evening at Edwards Funeral Home in Mt. Gilead.
Mrs. Elkins was born on April 14, 1936, to the late Adam Lincoln and Kate Blue Parnell. She was a wonderful stay at home Mom and caregiver over the years. Ann was the most loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, and friend to all that knew her.
In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her sisters and brothers: Helen Parnell Hutchinson, James, J.T., Saphronia, and Leroy Parnell.
She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Samuel Leeland Elkins, Jr. of the home; five children, Marie Dunn (Lonnie), Sam Elkins (Sharon), Mike Elkins (Angela), Anthony Elkins (Emily), and Carrie Minshew (Tadd); thirteen grandchildren, Lonnie Lee Dunn (Andrea), Stephanie Crisco (David), Jessie Dunn (Samantha), Cullie Ann Elkins, Samuel Elkins, Adam Elkins, Aaron Elkins, Katie Elizabeth Elkins, Brandon George, Josh Elkins, Caleb Elkins, Ruby Minshew, and Avery Minshew; five great-grandchildren, Emily Crisco, Ellie Crisco, Grayson Dunn, Lucy Ann Dunn and baby Ivy Lee Dunn. In addition, she is survived by sisters and brothers: A.L., Philip, Bobby, Joe, and Phylis Parnell.
