Alice Lee Lefler Wilder, 83, of Mount Gilead, surrounded by her loving family, passed away Saturday morning, May 26, 2018 at Sandy Ridge Assisted Living in Candor, NC.

Graveside Memorial Service will be held at 11:00AM, Wednesday, May 30, 2018, at Sharon Cemetery.  Rev. Duane Partin will officiate the service. The family will receive friends at a reception honoring Alice’s life following the service at the First United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall.

Mrs. Wilder was born January 14, 1935, to the late Rufus and Leola Thompson Lefler.  She was a faithful member of First United Methodist Church.  She was a member of the Encounters Sunday School Class and the UMW.  She has served the church in many capacities over the years, including the parsonage committee, staff parish, and working in the nursery.  Alice was a member of the Chi Sigma Club of Mt. Gilead and on the Museum Committee. She served as Girl Scout leader and played the piano for services at Zion UMC, and worked tirelessly on the Chi Sigma attic sales. Alice was a Registered Nurse by trade but worked many years with David at Wilder’s Store. In high school, Alice set the state record for the most points scored by a woman in a basketball game. Alice loved helping and spending time with the many friends she made over the years.

In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her daughter, Jennifer and her brother, Ray Lefler.

She is survived by her husband of 61 years, David Hunter Wilder of the home; daughter,  Alane Wilder Brown and husband Steven of Loganville, Georgia; grandchildren, Taylor Dansby Brown, Maxton Hunter Brown, and Aimee Lee Brown, all of Loganville, Georgia. She is survived by one sister, Shirley Haithcock and husband Ben of Mt. Gilead.

Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church or Zion United Methodist Church at P.O. Box 176 Mt. Gilead, NC 27306.
