Mattie Shankle Robinson

Mattie Ruth Shankle Robinson the daughter of Margaret Shankle and the late Romania Shankle was born June 23, 1953 in Anson County.  Mattie transitioned to her heavenly home Sunday, July 5, 2020 at Atrium CMC Main, Charlotte, NC. 

A memorial service will be held at 1:00PM, Wednesday, July 8, 2020 at Edwards Funeral Home Chapel in Norwood.  Rev. David Gaddy will officiate.

Affectionately called, “Gee-Jo” by her grandchildren, Mattie attended Lakeview Elementary and was a graduate of South Stanly High School, class of 1972.

Mattie was employed with TLC at Home in Albemarle.  She retired from IAC, formally known as Collins & Aikman with 32 years of dedicated service.

Mattie began her Christian journey at an early age and joined East Macedonia Baptist Church, Norwood, where she faithfully served as Sunday school Secretary.

Mattie was a caring and sharing person and always greeted everyone she encountered with a smile. 

Mattie was preceded in death by three siblings: Jessie Bruton, Lewis Shankle and Frankie Shankle.

Mattie’s passing has left a great void in the lives of her family and friends.  Cherished and loving memories of her kindness and generosity will forever be remembered by her daughters, Tamiko (Maurice) Miller of Mount Gilead and Aerial (Derrick) Watson of the home.  Three grandchildren, Bryan Shankle-Drye, Xavier Thompson and Aubreyelle Thomas, all of the home.  One sister, Sylvia (Jonathan) James of Mooresville; two brothers, Ricky (Veronica) of Albemarle and Richard (Mary) of Poinciana, FL.  One special cousin, Evelyn Long of Gastonia; two special friends, Stephanie Dumas of Mount Gilead and Vivian Little of Oakboro and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
