Jack Smith

Robert Jackson “Jack” Smith, 61 of Norwood passed away Wednesday evening, June 17, 2020 at his home.

A family funeral service will be held at 11:00AM, Saturday, June 20, 2020 at First United Methodist Church in Norwood.  Rev. Bill Roberts will officiate, and interment will follow in Norwood Cemetery.  Family and friends are welcome to pay their respects at Edwards Funeral Home in Norwood, Friday afternoon, June 19, 2020 from 1:00PM to 5:00PM. 

Jack was born October 3, 1958 in Stanly County to the late Herman Francis Smith and Reba Hill Watkins, who survives of Norwood.   He was a 1976 graduate of South Stanly High School and was former operator of Jack’s Storage in Norwood.  He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Norwood.  Jack was a talented musician and enjoyed watching Carolina basketball.  He was a very likable and outgoing person and a friend to all he met.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his sister, Nancy Kretz and stepfather, Robert Watkins.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his daughters, Michelle Smith Hicks and husband, Aaron of Concord and Jacquelyn Smith Barrier and husband, Blake of Mount Pleasant; brothers, Herman Smith Jr. and wife Nancy of Walkertown and Jimmy Smith and wife, Amy of Norwood, brother in law, Bob Kretz and wife, Mary of Concord; grandchildren, Colby, Landon and Jake Hicks, Brooklyn and Lawson Barrier; step sisters, Sandra Turner and husband, Sam of Norwood, Beverly Britt and husband, Terry of Sunset Beach, SC and step brother, Bobby Watkins and wife, Renee of Oakboro.
