Vernon Lee Thompson

Vernon Lee Thompson 87 of Norwood died Sunday Afternoon, December 23, 2018 at Tucker Hospice House in Kannapolis.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, December 29, 2018 at Memorial Baptist Church. Rev. Quinton Covington and Rev. Josh Phillips will officiate and interment will follow in Norview Gardens. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 1:45 Saturday at the church.

Vernon was born January 18, 1931 in Montgomery County to the Eugene and Mattie Smith Thompson. He was retired owner of Stanly Apparel and a Charter member of Memorial Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife Peggy East Thompson and his son Terry Lee Thompson, brothers, Howard, Dewey, Charles and Carson Thompson, sisters, Katie Huneycutt, Ola Mae McClean, Rachel Hudson and Lula Smith.

He is survived by his son Tim Thompson (Karen) of Fayetteville and his daughter Juanita Thompson Russell  (Rusty) of Concord. One sister, Annette Thompson Vanhoy (Richard) of Salisbury. Eighteen Grandchildren, Twenty Three Great-Grandchildren and Three Great-Great Grandchildren.
