Margaret Elizabeth (Waddell) Scarboro

Margaret Elizabeth Waddell Scarboro, 97, of Mount Gilead, passed away Sunday evening, May 12, 2019, at Sandy Ridge Assisted Living in Candor.

Funeral services will be held Friday, May 17, 2019 at 11:00 AM, at First United Methodist Church in Mt. Gilead. Rev. Duane Partin will officiate.  Interment will follow at Sharon Cemetery.  The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Edwards Funeral Home in Mt. Gilead.

Mrs. Scarboro was born June 16, 1921, in Anson County, to the late Jessie Henry and Mamie Curlee Waddell.  She was a member of First United Methodist Church and a member of the Minnie Frutchey Sunday School Class. She was the owner and operator of Margaret’s Beauty Shoppe for 52 years. She loved to crochet, work puzzles, and bake. 

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Benton Everette Scarboro, Sr., her sister, Virginia Martin, and her niece, Edna Mills Vinson.

She is survived by her sons:  Benton Everette Scarboro, Jr. (Barbara) of Awendaw, SC, Henry Edward Scarboro (Kim) of Thomasville, and Thomas Eugene Scarboro (Leigh) of North Pole, Alaska. Grandchildren, Brent , Mikayla, Dillon, and Matthew, and great-grandson, Logan and nephew, Buddy Martin.

The family would like to thank the staff and residents at Sandy Ridge for the love and care given to their Mother. She will be missed by many friends!
