Georgine Clontz Obituary

Georgine Ellen Braccetti Reap Clontz, 87, of Albemarle, passed away Monday, April 4, 2024. 

A graveside service  with military honors  will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, April 13, 2024 at Norview Gardens in Norwood. . 

Georgine was born June 10, 1936 in the Bronx, New York to the late Ernest Rosado and Florence Engels.  She was a retired Social Worker with the Stanly County Department of Social Services.  She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Albemarle, NC.  

She proudly served her country in the U S Marine Corps.  She joined the Marine Corps in 1956, began boot camp at Parris, Island, SC where she became a squad leader.  She was then assigned to Headquarters and Service Battalion in Norfolk VA where she received a Confidential Clearance.She was then assigned to Force Future Plans and was part of the Honor Guard for ceremonies in Williamsburg, VA. She received a Secret Clearance and was assigned to Logistics.  She then received a Cosmic Top Secret Clearance and was assigned to one of the four-star generals in the Marine Corps(there were only two in the Corps).  Corporal and Sergeant were meritorious promotions and was a member of the Woman Marine Rifle Team for her base. She completed all the women’s basic courses and received permission to take the men’s basic courses.  She took Jet Checkout at the Naval Air Station and additional duties included reenlistment NCO.  She taught various military subjects to members of her company.  She was Platoon Sergeant for her company and was recommended for Officer Candidate School and was discharged in 1959. She was a member of The Women marine Association,  Molly Marine Chapter LA-1 and The Marine Corps League, Stanly County Detachment 1021

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by husbands, Havel Clontz and Edgar Reap. 

She is survived  her special caregiver and friend, Sandi Johnson, along with her church family and friends.
