Dwayne Sasser

Vernon Dwayne Sasser, 65, of Norwood, passed away Saturday, March 16, 2024 at his home. 

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, March 24, 2024 at Edwards Funeral Home Chapel. Mike Lisk will officiate and burial will follow at Norwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM on Saturday, March 23, 2024 at Edwards Funeral Home. 

Dwayne was born on September 23, 1958 in Stanly County to the late Vernon Lee Sasser and Doris Bost Whitley. He worked in textiles and was a member at Norwood Church of God. He enjoyed lifting weights, fishing, watching the San Francisco 49ers , and grilling out. He loved his family and especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends. 

He is preceded in death by his parents, Vernon Lee Sasser and wife, Frances Bowles; mother Doris Bost Whitley; and son-in-law, Danny Gardner Jr. 

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 46 years, Jerri Mabry Sasser; children: Sherry Pruitt, Dwayne ‘Dab’ Sasser, Dink Sasser, Kim Sasser, and Kristy Sasser Gardner, all of Norwood; 12 grandchildren: Destiny (Brad), Cheyanne, Hannah, Chance, Kenny, Calee, Dallas, Jazlynn, Aubrey, Silas, Samantha, and Lauren; six great-grandchildren: Emryn, Kylee, Zandyn, Hazley, Sydalynn, and Sebastian; sister: Beverly Sasser Mabry of Norwood; brothers: Scotty Sasser and Tommy Sasser, both of Mt. Gilead; and father-in-law, Roy Lee Mabry Sr.
