Bobby Hoover, 76, of Mount Gilead passed away early Tuesday morning, December 11, 2012.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm, Thursday, December 13, 2012 at Holly Mount Baptist Church. Rev. Dan Abernathy, Rev. Leroy Smith and Rev. Henry Jenkins will officiate and burial will follow in Hamer Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00
until 8:00, Wednesday evening, December 12, 2012 at Edwards Funeral Home in Mount Gilead.
Mr. Hoover was born December 6, 1935 in Richmond County to the late John and Florrie Chappell Hoover. He was a member of Hamer Creek Baptist Church, where he served as a Deacon, Youth and Senior Councils, usher and was on the Building and Grounds committee of Hamer Creek Baptist Church. He attended Holly Mount Baptist Church. He was a retiree of Jordan Lumber Company. He was an avid deer hunter and fisherman. He enjoyed restoring old trucks and cars and buying and selling merchandise of all kinds.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Colon, Clyde, Rob and Carl Hoover and sister, Mary Frances Robson.
He is survived by his former wife, Montie Gardner Hoover; daughter Dale Hogan and husband Rick of Troy; sisters, Rachel Sneed of Albemarle, Mae Greene of Mount Gilead and Josephine Luther of Ellerbe; granddaughter, Amanda Hamilton; two great-grandchildren, Landon and Macy Hamilton.
