Phillip Doyle Blalock 64, of Norwood died Sunday morning, October 30, 2011 at his home.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00PM Wednesday, November 2, 2011 at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church. The body will lie in state 30 minutes.  Rev. David Hatley will officiate and burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 Tuesday evening at Edwards Funeral Home in Norwood.      

Doyle was born June 13, 1949 in Stanly County. He was a son of the late Thomas Alexander and Inez Lowder Blalock. He was a retiree of Cherokee Sanford with 27 years of service and was a member of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church.

He is survived by his wife Ricky Ann Smith Blalock of the home. Two sons, Phillip Blalock and wife Shanda of Norwood and Wade Blalock and
wife Shonda of Oakboro. One daughter, Traci Wood and husband Michael of Norwood. Three brothers, Carlton Blalock and Bobby Blalock both of Norwood and Wayne Blalock of Charlotte. Two sisters, Caroline Headman of Fairfax, VA and Lois Harward of Norwood. Five grandchildren.
