Rev. Carroll was born March 13, 1923 in Gastonia, NC.  He was son of the late James Campbell and Clara Bailey Carroll. He was a WWII Navy veteran having served on the Battleship USS Swearer. He was a retired Baptist Minister having served more than 50 years, and Counselor in the Columbia, SC area for many years, and a member of Richfield Baptist Church.

Rev. Carroll graduated from Wingate College Furman University and Wake Forrest Seminary. During his ministry he served many churches including, Winnsboro Baptist Church in Winnsboro, SC, Kerr Street Baptist Church in Concord, Kinza Baptist Church in Stanfield, Kendall's Baptist Church and Richfield Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife Ethel Johnson Carroll.

He is survived by his daughter Jeanie Carroll Nugent,  his grandson Todd Burleson and wife Leslie, his great-grandsons, Sean and Austin Burleson all of Norwood.
