Mr. Thompson was born May 12, 1917 in Montgomery County.  He was a son of the late E. Talmadge and Neva Morris Thompson. He was a retiree of Stanly Fixtures, a WWII Army Veteran and a member of First Presbyterian Church of Norwood.

He is survived by his wife Jeanette Livingston Thompson of the home. One daughter Charlotte Thompson Benton and husband Marvin of Albemarle. One son Terry Thompson and wife Billie of New Salem. Two brothers Thetus and Billy Thompson both of Norwood. Six Grandchildren and 15 Great-Grandchildren.
