Mrs. Brewer was born July 18, 1924 in Baltimore, Maryland.  She was a daughter of the late Ernest Lee and Marguerita Thon Marks. She attended school in Warsaw and Montross, VA, graduating from high school on Montross in 1941. Marjori  received her nurses training  from Union Memorial Hospital in Baltimore.  She received her Religious Education Degree from Women's Missionary Union Training School in Louisville, Kentucky.

Mrs. Brewer worked as a Cadet Nurse in an Army Hospital during WWII in Jackson, Mississippi. In Baltimore, Maryland, she served as a registered nurse at Johns Hopkins University and was also a visiting nurse. Her nursing career continued at Erlanger Hospital in Chattanooga, Tennessee.  She was a substitute teacher for 17 years in Norwood Elementary and South Stanly High School.

Active in her church and community, she was a member of Memorial Baptist Church and Campers on Mission, Extension Homemakers, and a Charter member of the Norwood Community Service League.  She served as the crisis fund chairman for many years helping the sick, the homeless, the jobless and the down and out.  She was a volunteer for the American Cancer Society for 15 years and served as the Public Education Chairman for many years. In 1988 she received the Community Service Award for extraordinary effort to help her neighbors and improve her community.

She married C. Franklin Brewer on August 17, 1957 who preceded her in death.

She is survived by three sons, Mark Brewer and wife Carla of Raleigh, Roger Brewer of Honolulu, Hawaii, David Brewer and wife Tammy of Norwood. One daughter Charlotte-Anne Allen and husband Fred of Clingman, NC. Two sisters, Bobbie Schroer of Kyle, TX and Ann Grindstaff and husband Lawson of Warsaw, VA. Three Grandchildren, Josh and Michael Brewer and Amanda Allen.

Marjorie's family wishes to thank Hospice of Stanly County, The Bayada Nurses and the Staff of Forrest Oakes healthcare for their excellent and compassionate care.
