Mrs. Thompson was born May 24, 1928 in Chesterfield County, SC.  She was a daughter of the late Rhette Wayland and Leffie Clontz Watts.  She was a retiree of Collins and Aikman of Norwood and a member of Norwood First Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband Wade Spencer Thompson, a brother James David Watts and a sister Angel Watts Lefler.

She is survived by her son Gary Thompson and wife Ann of Norwood and a granddaughter Natalie Thompson Smith and husband Phillip of Norwood and three great-grandchildren Nathan, Amos and Abby Smith.  Her brother Steve Watts and wife Hilda of Eastman, GA and her sister Elizabeth Watts Poplin of Norwood.
