Zell Clark Harkey

Zell Dawn Clark Harkey, 83, of Norwood, went to her heavenly home on November 27, 2017 surrounded by those she loved.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday November 30, 2017 at 1:00PM at Norwood First Baptist Church. Rev. Todd McSwain and Rev. Joe Smith will officiate and burial will follow at Norview Gardens. The family will receive friends following the service in the fellowship hall at the church.

Ms. Harkey was born on January 5, 1934 in Stanly County and was raised at the Baptist Children’s Home in Thomasville where she came to know the Lord. A graduate of Kings Business College, she worked for GMC, Belk, Norwood Fabric Store, and Wal-Mart.

She was married to the late James Edward Harkey and is survived by their daughter Martha H. Mabry and husband Danny of Norwood; two grandsons Jason and Weston Mabry and a great-grandson Carter Mabry; a brother James Clark of Martinsburg W.V. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Futrell Clark and a sister Essie Mae Almond .

Although Zell was an Orphan and Widow, she overcame. She pursued life with determination and zest. She enjoyed reading, traveling, swimming, and spending time with her special friend, Duane Blake, and faithfully attending Norwood First Baptist Church, where she was a long time member.
