Sonya ‘MawMaw’ Hudson Efird, 58, of Norwood, passed away on Saturday March 17, 2018 at CHS-Northeast.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday March 20, 2018 at 5:00PM at Silver Springs Baptist Church and Rev. Mark Little will officiate. The family will receive friends on Monday evening from 6:00 to 8:00PM at Edwards Funeral Home in Norwood.
Sonya was born on April 28, 1959 in Stanly County to the late Edward Lee and Alma Jewel Curlee Hudson. She attended South Stanly High School and was a member at Silver Springs Baptist Church. She worked for over 20 years with Stanly County Emergency Department and was the Assistant 911 Director.
Sonya was known for her wonderful cakes and crocheting. She had lots of children that knew her as ‘MawMaw’ and she considered them her ‘adopted’ children. She always showed care and was loved in return by so many.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brother Darrell Hudson and her granddaughter Hagen Elizabeth Efird.
She is survived by her husband Rickey Wayne Efird of the home; Children: Danyelle Leanne Blalock (Chris) of Millingport, Daniel Lee Efrid (Melissa) of Norwood, and Dusty Logan Efird (Holly) of Norwood; Seven grandchildren: TJ (Jessica), Destiny ‘Flossie’ (Kenny), Dylan, Denver, Destiny, Cheyenne Lee, and Austin; one great-granddaughter, Rylee; Sisters: Kathryn Thompson of Norwood, Sylvia Helms (Steve) of Marshville, Sandra Tucker (Charles) of Albemarle, and Dale Ford (Roger) of Albemarle; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
