Marlene Joyce Lowder 86 of Mt. Gilead died Thursday Afternoon, February 15, 2018 at CHS-Stanly in Albemarle.
Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 PM Sunday, February 18, 2018 at Bethel Baptist Church in Mt. Gilead. Rev. Tony Hancox and Rev. Dan Capps, Jr will officiate and interment will follow in Ellerbe Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
Mrs. Lowder was born January 24, 1932 in Stokes County to the late Charlie and Leanna Darnell Joyce. She was a 1950 Graduate of Ellerbe High School and a retired Secretary in the Textile Industry and had worked as a Dispatcher for law enforcement. She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church.
Marlene was a true people person. She loved spending time with her family and friends especially her graduating class. She was an artist, enjoyed her flowers, a steward of God, and loved her church.
She was preceded in death by her husband Wallace Hoyle Lowder. Her daughter-in-law Lisa Broome, great-grandson Alex Willoughby IV, brother, Harlan Joyce and sisters, Lanelle Baxley and Rhoelle Capps and a step-daughter in law, Kathie Lowder.
She is survived by her sons Wayne Broome and wife Penny of Asheboro and Dale Broome of Springfield, MO. One daughter, Gwen Broome Cranford and husband Steven of Norman. One step-son Wally Lowder and wife Paige of Brunswick, GA and step-daughter, Jean Inkerbrandt and husband Tim of Mt. Gilead. One sister, Dathia Joyce Lee of Ellerbe. Grandchildren, Allison Willoughby, Ashton Broome, Dustin Cranford, Gabriel Fleetwood and Kaitlyn Broome. Great-Grandchildren, Cameron, Rylie and Alexandra Willoughby. Step-Grandchildren, Kelly Drye, Michelle and Jeremy Hurley. Step-Great-Grandchild, Maverick Drye.
Memorials may be made to Bethel Baptist Church.
