Josephine (Galliher) Garris

Josephine Galliher Garris, 74, of Norwood, passed away Saturday, July 29, 2017 at her home after a long battle with lung cancer. A private memorial service will be held at a later date. 

             Josephine was born on May 27, 1943 to the late Dale and Louise Galliher of Anson County. She was a member of Memorial Baptist Church of Norwood.

            Josephine was first and foremost a caring and devoted mother to her two children, and loving wife to husband, Robert "Gene" Garris. She was devoted to her son, Jonathan Lee (who preceded her in death) which required much care. She was also best friend to her daughter, Selena Parrish. Josephine was best known for her sincere interest in the life and well-being of all those she met. When she asked how you were, she was genuinely concerned and was a great listener. She enjoyed sending cards with thoughtful, personalized notes as a regular ministry to others. Josephine cherished all of her friends and family. She was well loved.  Josephine also enjoyed flower gardening, reading country & garden magazines, and a cold glass of sweet tea. 

            Many friends have been devoted to Josephine during her final months, but sincere, heartfelt thanks is especially sent out to Helen and Jerry Smith, Brenda and Steve Bradley, Patty and Kenneth Haigler, Patsy McNeill (Franklin), Martha Gaddy (John), Sandra Turner (Sam) and Maxine Reid (Jack). Their compassion and assistance during this difficult time has deeply touched the hearts of her family.

            In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Edwards Funeral Home, PO Box 765, Norwood, NC 28128.
