Jerry Wayne Williams

Jerry Wayne Williams 79 of Mt. Gilead died Sunday, April 15, 2018 at Autumn Care of Marshville.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, April 19, 2018 at Emmanuel Baptist Church, 3816 Morgan Mill Road, Monroe, NC  28110. The family will receive friends following the service at the church. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, April 20, 2018 Wadeville Methodist Church Cemetery in Mt. Gilead.

Mr. Williams was born January 6, 1939 in Montgomery County to the late Lloyd and Thelma Maske Williams. He was a veteran of the United States Army and a retiree of Frito Lay Corporation. Jerry was an avid Duke Basketball fan and Golfer and played for many years on the Senior Amateur Tour.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife Linda Brown Williams.

He is survived by his wife Sylvia Kay Williams of the home. One son, Corey Scott Williams (Linda) of Mt. Gilead. One daughter, Laura Gaye Hunter of Pinehurst. Two Step-sons, Michael Croft (Wanda) of Mt. Gilead and Richard Croft (Paula) of Monroe. One brother, Frank Williams (Margaret) of Newton. One sister, Alice Walter (Marty) of Norwood. Seven grandchildren, Corey Williams of Mt. Gilead, Daniel Long and Brandon Long of Seven Lakes, Kristina Croft of Monroe, Karma and Khloe Williams of Mt. Gilead and Sadie Cline of Seagrove. Brothers-in-law, Dr. Joel Penegar (Vicki), Charles Penegar and Max Penegar all of Monroe. His best friend Branson Webb of Mt. Gilead. His Boston Terrier Bella Bear and his cat Tom.
