George "Bob" Boyce Preslar

George “Bob” Boyce Preslar, 91, of Norwood, surrounded by his loving family, passed away Friday morning, March 24, 2017 at his home.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Monday March 27, 2017 at Memorial Baptist Church. Rev. Josh Phillips and Rev. Nathan Fox will officiate and interment will follow at Norview Gardens.  The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Sunday evening at Edwards Funeral Home in Norwood.

Mr. Preslar was born June 7, 1925, to the late George Durgin and Mary Jane Howard Preslar.  He was a faithful member of Memorial Baptist Church.  He graduated from Burnsville High School and  was a self employed carpenter.  He loved God and his family.  He loved spending time outdoors, hunting and fishing with his children and grandchildren. 

In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his daughter in law, Paulette Preslar, one brother Lowell Preslar, and two sisters, Reba Thomas and Imogene Caudle.

He is survived by his wife Irene Dean Preslar of the home. Three sons, Dale Preslar and  Bobby Preslar of Norwood and Neil Preslar and wife Lisa of Oakboro.  Two step children, Karen Thompson and husband Tim of Fayetteville and Dean Ratliff of Norwood.  In addition, there are five grandchildren, six great grandchildren, and thirteen step-grandchildren.
